Franschhoek is situated just a 1 hour drive from Cape Town, with breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world class cuisine and fine wines making it the perfect host town.
Participants ease into a week of cycling with a Saturday afternoon spin followed by sundowners at the idilic Leopard’s Leap Wine Estate.
Sunday kicks off with an early morning coffee ride before an afternoon at leisure and sunset ITT Prologue with young riders from the Western Cape joining as part of the HotChillee Development Rider Programme.
From Monday things start to heat up! You will cycle in a “rider bubble” with rolling road closures, motorbike outriders, traffic police, lead cars, mechanical support and medical vehicles. This means no changing your own punchers and no stopping at red lights!
Days range between 100 – 150km per day and you’ll be done by mid-afternoon leaving plenty of time for recovery by the pool and fine dining in the evening.
You’ll make lifelong friends both on and off the bike and, if you’re bringing a non-riding partner, there’s plenty for them to do while you’re riding.
The Cape Rouleur always takes place the week ahead of Cape Town Cycle Tour, with the option of seeded entry available for all riders.

There are many benefits from entering a multi-day cycling experience for your company and its employees. whether it’s as part of a reward scheme, health and wellbeing programme, team bonding experience or an opportunity to host clients we can put together a bespoke package for you. Riders are seeded into two groups at a 7km Individual Time Trial on Sunday evening:
Group 1 average speed: 27-28km/h Group 2 average speed: 25-26km/h
Each group rides as a fully supported "bubble", with the HotChillee Ride Captains in radio contact with the support vehicles and motor bike outriders to help ensure the safety of each group at all times.
Whatever your speed group, you will be looked after like a pro-cyclist with a mechanics support van following each group carrying service wheels and service bikes so no more fixing punctures at the side of the road.
A broom wagon follows Group 2 in case riders need a break, or are unable to complete the day.
The Festival Ride takes place on Thursday 11 March 2021 and forms the last day of the HotChillee Cape Rouleur. As on other days of the Cape Rouleur participants are supported by the fabulous Think Bike Marshals, HotChillee Ride Captains, mechanics vehicle, ambulance and the local traffic police. A seeded entry means an earlier start time, ensuring that you can ride ahead of the crowds and in a speed group that suits your ability. We'll send out the group entry link as soon as we receive it!
