What to do and where to eat in Franschhoek!

 

Franschhoek is situated just a 1 hour drive from Cape Town, with breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world class cuisine and fine wines making it the perfect host town for riders and non-riders alike. If you’re joining us as a non-riding partner or fancy exploring after a day in the saddle, we’ve quizzed some locals and their must-do recommendations are as follows!

Off-Bike Activities

If you’re a cycling widow or widower don’t worry about what to do while your other half is tackling the HotChillee Cape Rouleur, you’ll be spoiled for choice!  While there’s definitely nothing wrong with chilling by the pool, Franschhoek has so much to offer that we’d strongly urge you to resist the lure of the sun lounger and go and explore.

 

What better way to explore the world renowned wineries of the region than a hop-on-hop-off vintage tram and tram-bus network? There are eight lines with each one visiting a wide selection of estates and, in addition to tasting, several of the estates also boast world-class restaurants serving lunches and picnics. Non-riding Partner Social Rides

Each year we invite non-riding partners to take part in daily supported social rides, leaving from the Event HQ. These are very relaxed, social and always punctuated by sightseeing and coffee stops, however riders will need to be able to ride 30km minimum. Bikes can be hired from Franschhoek Cycles or e-bikes from Day Trippers. There is no additional charge for the social rides.
