New Route Confirmed for the Second Edition of the Rainmaker Rollercoaster 7-day Gravel Adventure
The new route for second edition of the Rainmaker RollerCoaster was announced this week at a Route Launch & Wine Tasting Event hosted by Rainmaker Solutions and HotChillee at 67 Pall Mall in London, with up and coming wine maker Joseph Dhafana of Mosi Wines showcasing his wines in the UK for the first time alongside industry legends La Motte.
This year’s route has been designed by HotChillee, with less climbing and more of a focus on traditional, authentic style gravel racing.
Starting once again with a 16 km time trial in the stunning Bontebok National Park in Swellendam, after which riders will embark on a 580 km journey on some of the best and unspoiled gravel the Western Cape has to offer. From the rolling hills of Overburg into the farmlands of the Duiwenhoks River valley to the semi-desert of the Little Karoo and the Karmanassie region with its picturesque mountain backdrop, the Rainmaker RollerCoaster promises an event that may be tough on the legs but easy on the eyes, while showcasing the incredible range of landscape the Western Cape provides.
On the last day, after riding through the Knysna Forest on the lookout for elephants, riders will finish their week-long adventure with a visit to the Kwano Cycling Academy in Kwanokuthula. Kwano Cycling Academy is supported by the Buffalo Foundation, a charitable foundation set up by Rainmaker CEO, Jan Joubert, together with trustees: Tim Hanley, Rainmaker COO and Sven Thiele, Founder of HotChillee. Their goal is to make a lasting difference to children and young adults living in poverty. Their focus is on sport, education and the creation of future entrepreneurs.
Riders can race the route in teams of two or can ride in small groups supported by the HotChillee Ride Captains.
