With lockdown lifting officially underway Hotchillee outdoor group rides are back, along with three new UK based road and gravel events!
These will join our calendar of multi-day events and virtual rides and activities meaning there’s a lot going on as Hotchillee unlocks ….
In the week of the Summer Solstice make the most of the daylight hours and tackle what is arguably the toughest single-day event we’ve ever laid on.
The 135km distance with 1885m of ascent is challenging enough but, throw in the technical challenge of riding the country’s oldest road and you have a gravel adventure worthy of the most seasoned off-road aficionado.
Entry costs £135pp and includes transfers to the start line, manned water stops, Hotchillee Ride Captain support and post-ride refreshments on arrival to the finish.
To celebrate a great summer of cycling we’re going to escape the city and escape lockdown on our two day, Great Gravel Escape.
We’ll break free of the shackles of London on gravel bikes – first by following the Thames and then by heading north on a network of canal towpaths. No bike computer? No problem, we’ve got Wahoo Elemnt Roam’s available for loan.
Entry starts from £180 pp and includes a night of camping, with a 3-course fireside dinner and a complimentary beer courtesy of our friends at Stokh.
Fit some low gears and get ready for some of the most iconic and challenging climbs that the Peak District has to offer!
Staying at the multi-award-winning Peak District pub-hotel the Old Hall and Papermill you’ll be nestled in the heart of the hills. On Saturday you’ll get a full dose of Northern Grit riding and then, on Sunday cheer on the UK’s best climbers at the National Hill Climb Champs.
Entry costs £150pp and includes dinner on Friday and Saturday night, Ride Captain support, manned water stops and a support vehicle en route.
With rides now in Cape Town, the Chilterns, the Cotswolds, Kent, London, Surrey and Sussex we’ve got a packed calendar of road and gravel group rides supported by the excellent Hotchillee Ride and Chapter Captains.
Things kick off next Thursday with early morning Laps and Lattes with Ride Captains Wayde and Gareth, followed by some Dirty Night Fun with Captain and Jon that evening! Places will be limited so register quickly if you want to join us. Check out the full calendar of upcoming rides and activities on the Hotchillee website by clicking below.
Group rides are open to Hotchillee Premium members, and if you’re not already a member no worries, it’s easy to join and your first 30 days are free. Click here for more information about Premium membership and a full list of excellent benefits.

Consultant with British Cycling and author of the Road Cycling Performance Manual. Lover of cobbles, gravel and Siberian Pine – not so keen on climbs! Nik is the author of all of the Hotchillee Training Plans, Zwift workout files and regularly posts tips and advice on the Hotchillee app. He’s also the evil genius behind the now infamous Hotchillee Gain Train.
Glen is usually behind the scenes making sure that the Hotchillee Ride Captains and event participants have fully functioning bicycles to ride but he occasionally makes an appearance in front of the camera to share his wisdom. If he’s not fixing or building bikes he’ll be out riding in #SweetSussex. If you want to know anything about Cyclocross, Glen is the man to ask.
