HotChillee and the Buffalo Foundation Fundraise 200 Qhubeka Bikes

50 Bicycles to be Distributed at the Rainmaker RollerCoaster!

This year, HotChillee partnered with the Buffalo Foundation and Qhubeka to raise funds for 200 bicycles, 50 of which we will be distributing to the community of Kwanokuthula on the Rainmaker RollerCoaster 2019. Fundraising activities included HotChillee Ride Captain “The Bull” riding the Tourmalet on a 16kg Qhubeka Bike (!), find out more here.

The 50 beneficiaries of the Qhubeka bicycles will meet the riders at Murray High, home of the Kwano Cycling Academy, where they will be invited to join us for a ride to Plettenberg Bay. Before they leave, riders will have a chance to meet some of the riders from the Kwano Cycling Academy, which is fully supported by the Buffalo Foundation and forms part of the HotChillee Development Rider Programme.

Participants of the RollerCoaster will also have the opportunity to help us raise funds for the Buffalo Foundation at the Rainmaker Braai on the last night of the event, with an auction with prizes including a VIP entry to the HotChillee Cape Rouleur 2020.

HotChillee Development Rider Academies riding the RollerCoaster

This year’s Rainmaker RollerCoaster will be raced by five cycling academies from the HotChillee programme thanks to the generous support of Rainmaker, HotChillee, Wesgro and the Western Cape Government.

Former World Tour rider Songezo Jim will compete with a young rider from his academy based in Masiphumelele, alongside teams from Kwano, Songo.info from Kayamandi, and Velokhaya Life Cycling Academy and Bonga’s Cycling Academy both operating out of Khayelitsha.
