We are staying at the Old Hall Inn, Whitehough, Chinley, High Peak SK23 6EJ.
For those travelling by car, there is parking available at the Old Hall.
The nearest British Rail station is Chinley, which is walkable to the Old Hall. Chapel en le Frith is a little further away.
Check in is from 15:00. However if you are arriving earlier and plan to join Nik on the ‘Bonus Ride’ (see below) then a room can be provided for you to get changed etc.
Charlotte and Jane will be keeping (warm) things running smoothly from a support car which will be well stocked with water and snacks. You can of course throw in some extra layers or anything you might need during the day.
Your host and lead ride captain for the event is Nik Cook. As a local Nik has put together the routes and will be able give us the full tourist treatment during the weekend with lots of facts and stories about the area.
Supporting Nik is Hotchillee Ride Captain Wayde Finch who, apart from bringing down the average age of the party, will be giving you all the encouragement needed to tackle the climbs and make the most of your Hotchillee weekend.
If you’re coming up early, Nik will be leading a ride rolling out from the Old Hall at 14:00.
It’ll be about a two hour ride on one of his usual training loops. It’s hilly, there may be cobbles but you’re never more than 7km from the pub so it’s easy to cut short if necessary.
Friday evening we will be eating at the Paper Mill Inn (next door to the Old Hall Inn). The team will be in the bar from 19:00 with dinner at 20:00.
The menu is hand stretched pizza, baked on stone romana style!
Breakfast available at the Old Hall from 07:30.
We aim to roll from the Old Hall at 09:00 for a lumpy tour of the Peak District including three National Hill Climb summits that culminates with an ascent of the infamous Winnats Pass.
The good/bad news is that Bamford Clough – the UK’s steepest road, is currently closed but we have managed to tag on an extra climb that takes you past the top of it.
We will have water stops approx every 20km.

The Old Hall/Paper Mill serves pizzas and other snacks all afternoon on Saturday if you want to do some recovery refuelling before dinner.
Dinner this evening is in the Old Hall Mill at 20:00, with pre dinner drinks at the bar before hand.
Don’t forget the clocks go back so you’ll get an extra hour in bed (or at the bar!). Breakfast is available from 07:30.
We’ll play it a bit by ear depending on the weather but we’ll aim to roll at 08:30 to ride the 24km/387m round to the foot of Winnats to catch the top female riders.

Bring a rucksack or drop bag, trainers and a waterproof etc to put in the car. We’ll bring a long cable lock that we’ll be able to secure all the bikes with.
Depending on how long people want to watch for and how much riding people want to do, we can come up with options for riding back to the pub. But we expect to be back approx. 13:00
Check out is at 11:00 so please make sure you have done this before you leave for the ride. The pub will make showers and a room available for our return..
If you need to contact one of the team during the ride please call Jane as your first point of contact. The Hotchillee team mobile numbers are listed opposite.
If you have any questions before the ride or need additional information please message in #hill_climb_champs_weekender group on the Hotchillee companion app or email [email protected].
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
