Fancy a Big Day Out?
Distance: 350km/1800m
Start time: 04:00
Start / finish venue: Dynamo, Putney
Route: London-Cambridge-Oxford-London
If you’re at a loose end on 18th June, how about riding 350km with Chillee Andrew Rae to raise money for the Kwano Academy – a cycling academy in South Africa, who Hotchillee and the Buffalo Foundation have been proud to work alongside for several years.
Andrew was introduced to this amazing academy and was so inspired he wanted to do something bigger and more audacious than the usual sportives and marathons to try and reflect the challenges the kids go through.
He started looking at Strava and considered the length of Wales but that had way too much climbing! London to Cambridge, to Oxford and back to London just worked. It’s fairly flat – 350km, just 1800m of climbing over the distance and has the aspirational aspect of passing through two of the worlds most iconic University towns.
After the inaugural ride in 2021, Andrew invites (challenges!) Hotchillee riders to join them again on this epic day out. The aim would be to double the number of riders (last year it was 10) and double the £3000 that was previously raised. Groups will be no more that 10 -12 to keep things manageable.
