Limited Edition HotChillee/ Velokhaya Jersey Pre-Order

7-Day Order Window

Since we launched the HotChillee Cape Rouleur in South Africa it’s been a priority for us to work with local organisations, suppliers and crew. We also set up the HotChillee Development Rider programme to ensure the event was inclusive to riders from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The programme has evolved over the years and has seen huge success. Way back in 2011 we never imagined that one of our riders, Nicholas Dlamini, would join a World Tour Team and become the first black African to win the KOM jersey on the Tour Down Under!

Key to this programme has been our partnership with Velokhaya, a cycling academy in the heart of Khayelitsha, the biggest township in the Western Cape. As well as changing the lives of thousands of young people they have launched the careers of many leading South African cyclists including Songezo Jim, Nicholas Dlamini and Luthando Kaka.

As part of the HotChillee Cape Rouleur 2018 we rode through Khayelitsha, stopping for coffee and cake at Velokhaya for the first time so our riders could see the excellent work they do. Feedback from riders was that this was the most memorable part of the event, thanks to their generosity since we have helped contribute to a new full time after school teacher. Since she started membership at Velokhaya has grown by 60%, so a massive THANK YOU for your support!

“Arriving at Velokhaya it’s fair to say I was pretty much blown away. The facility is state of the art and would not look out of place in Monaco, Mallorca or any of the other cycling meccas of Europe.” – Trevor Gornall, Editor Conquista Magazine.

As the Festival Ride was so popular on the 2018 event, we’ll be doing it all again in 2019 and we’re inviting HotChillee Cape Rouleur 2019 riders to order a HotChillee/Velokhaya jersey to wear on the day.

We love the jersey so much we’ve also decided to make it available as a limited edition for everyone to buy and wear with pride! Buy your jersey in the pre-order window this week and it will be delivered in early February. If you are SA based we will bring the jersey with us in March to the Cape Rouleur and mail to you locally.

The Kalas Elite jersey costs £85, with £20 proceeds from each jersey going directly to Velokhaya to help fund after school activities and cycling programmes. You can pre-order a jersey from the HotChillee Shop here.
